CertainTeed Gutter Replacement: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
If your CertainTeed gutters are pulling away, leaking at the seams, or draining onto your foundation, we replace them with factory-matched CertainTeed-compatible systems for most Ventura homes at $9 – $16 per linear foot installed, and standard single-story runs are usually done in one day. That price includes tear-off of the old material, new hangers and downspout connections, and haul-away. Most homeowners discover the problem the hard way: a damp spot on the stucco after rain, a sagging run you can see from the driveway, or water pooling at the slab edge because a downspout pulled loose sometime last winter.
We’re Crestview Roofing Co Ventura, an independent service provider not affiliated with CertainTeed, and Dylan Pace has been working roofs and gutter lines across Ventura County long enough to know which CertainTeed profiles show up on which neighborhoods, from Midtown Ventura bungalows to tract homes east of the 101. If it’s not in writing, it’s not a promise. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, and a one-year repair warranty in writing after it’s done.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To
CertainTeed’s gutter lineup in Southern California is mostly aluminum K-style and half-round profiles under the CertainTeed Restoration and CertainTeed WeatherTight names, with 5-inch and 6-inch K-style being the two sizes we see most often in Ventura. The quickest way to identify what you have is to measure across the top opening. If it’s 5 inches, you’ve got standard residential K-style and can mix most OEM and quality aftermarket hangers, miters, and downspouts. If it’s 6 inches, you need heavy-duty hangers rated for the wider profile and higher water volume, which matters on the steeper-pitched roofs we see in the hills above downtown.
The OEM-versus-aftermarket question is straightforward for gutters: CertainTeed’s aluminum coil and factory-formed profiles are excellent, but the weak points on nearly every system are the hangers, seam sealant, and downspout straps, and those are commodity parts where a quality aftermarket brand like GAF or Owens Corning aluminum often matches or beats OEM spec. We stock both and will tell you which one makes sense for your run and your budget before we write the quote. If you’ve got original CertainTeed hidden hangers from the 1990s, we’ll likely recommend replacing the full hanger set rather than patching, because the old clip spacing wasn’t designed for the wind loads we get off the Santa Barbara Channel.

Signs Your CertainTeed Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Pulling away from the fascia. Aluminum expands and contracts with Ventura’s temperature swings, and after 10 – 15 years the original hanger screws loosen. You’ll see a gap between the gutter back and the fascia board, or the whole run tilting away from the house.
- Water overflowing at the inside corners. Inside miters are where aluminum is cut and caulked at the factory, and the sealant is the first thing to fail in coastal air. Overflow here means the miter is done, not the whole run.
- Sagging between hangers. CertainTeed’s 5-inch profile needs hangers every 24 inches. If yours were spaced further out at original install, the middle of each run dips and holds standing water, which accelerates corrosion and invites mosquitoes.
- Rust streaks or pitting visible from the ground. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but the factory finish on older CertainTeed profiles wears thin after a decade of UV and salt air. Pitting means the protective coating is gone and the metal will fail soon.
- Downspout separated at the elbow. The elbow connections rely on small sheet-metal screws that back out over time. Water then dumps against the stucco or foundation wall instead of into the drainage path.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Ventura, expect $9 – $16 per linear foot installed for standard 5-inch K-style aluminum replacement, including old gutter tear-off, new CertainTeed or equivalent-grade profile, hangers every 2 feet, end caps, miters, downspout connections, and debris haul-away. A typical 1,800-square-foot single-story home runs 140 – 180 linear feet, so most full replacement jobs land between $1,260 and $2,880. Two-story homes add access labor, and 6-inch profiles run $2 – $3 more per foot.
What drives the range: whether the fascia board behind the gutter is solid or needs replacement, how many inside and outside miters your roofline has, and whether we’re reusing existing downspouts or running new ones. We give you a written line-item price before any work starts, and the number on the page is the number on the invoice. Every replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if the gutter line fails within a year of our work, we fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: whether the hangers are still snug, whether downspout elbows are connected, and whether debris is packing the corners. Clearing leaves and checking for loose screws is fine. Where DIY goes wrong is realigning a full run, because once one section is pulled off the fascia, gravity and wind take over, and a falling 20-foot aluminum section is a serious hazard. Repitching a run is two-person work at minimum, and the last thing you want is to realize you’ve created a worse leak than the one you started with. If you’re not sure, call us at (559) 249-4917. We’ll come take a look and tell you honestly what it needs and what it costs.
FAQs
Factory aluminum K-style gutters in Ventura’s climate typically last 15 – 20 years before the factory finish degrades and the hanger points wallow out. Salt air near the coast shaves 2 – 3 years off that. We see most failures at the 12 – 15 year mark.
Yes, if the damage is limited to one miter, one downspout connection, or a few loose hangers. We’ll patch what’s worth patching and tell you plainly if the whole run is too far gone. Call (559) 249-4917 and we’ll give it to you straight.
Most single-story replacements are done in half a day to one full day, start to finish, including tear-off and haul-away. Two-story work or 6-inch upgrades can run into a second day. We’ll give you a written timeline before we start.
We carry common 5-inch and 6-inch K-style aluminum profiles, hangers, miters, end caps, and downspout components from CertainTeed, GAF, and Owens Corning-compatible lines on our vehicles. That means most replacements get done without a parts run. Call (559) 249-4917 for a free estimate, and we’ll confirm stock for your specific profile.
